Aston Martin Rapide S

(5/5)  20 votes

With a roomy interior that comfortably seats 5 people, four doors, and all the luxury one could expect from an Aston Martin vehicle, the Aston Martin Rapide S will all but spoil anyone who owns it. The car has a base price of $202,775. Between the car’s luxuries and its incredible performance capabilities (especially in terms of speed), the Rapide S looks like one of the top cars produced in 2015.

Aston Martin: Bouncing Back

Legendary automotive manufacturer Aston Martin has been on top of its game recently, as evidenced by the Rapide series of vehicles. Since the turn of the millenium, the widely respected English company has introduced quality luxury vehicles such as the Vanquish and the DB9. With the English company celebrating its 100th birthday back in 2013, things have been looking up for Aston Martin. With the lineup of 2015 vehicles currently being produced by the company, this year is looking like another step in the right direction.

Even amid financial troubles over the last several years, the latest cars produced by this English luxury sports car manufacturer have been as impressive as any in the company’s storied century of existence. Just a couple years after Italian company Investindustrial invested around $250 million (£150 million) in the company, Aston Martin seems to be bouncing back quite nicely.

Rapide S Overview

One of the most impressive cars in the Aston Martin arsenal is the Rapide. Introduced in 2010, this four door saloon is a high performance vehicle that is consistent with what the world has come to expect from Aston Martin. In 2013, the S type was introduced. The Rapide S is a slightly modified version of the Rapide. This version has slightly improved performance capabilities and a slightly reduced carbon footprint, all for just a few thousand dollars more than the standard Rapide.

The car’s roominess, bulky weight and ability to accommodate passengers all affect its acceleration to a degree, though the Rapide S is still a high performance juggernaut by any standards. With a curb weight of 4,387 pounds, no one can reasonably expect the Rapide S is to win a short distance race against a supercar. With that said, the Rapide S is one of the highest performing four door vehicles ever produced (by any company).

With a top speed of 190 miles per hour and a 0-60 time of 4.8 seconds, the Aston Martin Rapide S is a luxury vehicle with the heart of a supercar. The car wields 550 horsepower at 6,750 rpm and 457 ft-lbs of torque at 5,500 rpm. This is all achieved thanks to the Aston Martin’s new Rapide Gen 4 AM11 engine. This 6 liter V12 beast of an engine, combined with the car’s 6 speed automatic gearbox make for quite the driving experience.
